Our trip to Kenya in November

In November we, Marije and Linda, traveled to Kenya again. While we were in Kenya we of course often visited the Rescue Centre, which at the moment is very full with 20 children and some babies. But that also provides a lot of fun and the children can play with each other.

It is always very nice for us to be in Kenya. Of course, we work mainly from a distance. Fortunately, our manager William ensures that everything always runs smoothly, but because of the distance we do not always feel the impact of Kenya Child Care’s work. In Kenya, we do feel that very clearly. We see and talk to the children who are taken care of and go to visit their families.

We also visited Lina, the manager of the Rescue Center. In our previous newsletter we shared she was stricken with a brain hemorrhage, but also that she was recovering well. We had therefore hoped to be able to tell you in this newsletter that Lina is doing much better by now, but another setback followed shortly after her brain hemorrhage. Due to an infection, one of her legs had to be amputated below the knee. She is also still paralyzed from the brain hemorrhage. And unfortunately she had to have another surgery last week because the infection had returned. Her leg is now amputated above her knee. So it remains to be seen how Lina will fare in the near future.

In this newsletter, we also share another update on our new car and let you know how Agnes and baby Flanley are doing now.

And of course we wish you very happy holidays and a sparkling 2024! On behalf of us and the entire team in Kenya, we thank you for your trust in our organization and your support. Thanks to you we can make a child’s life a lot more beautiful.

Loving greetings,

Marije and Linda
